This page is dedicated to documenting works in progress and the beginnings of larger projects.
Cameo
This version of Cameo is a proof-of-concept for a series of deep-faked George Santos cameos. Using the same video as the base, the content is shifted using voice cloning, text to speech, and lip-syncing. This project is part of the same through-line as In It For The Game, investigating in/acceptable forms of crime, theft, and appropriation.
Texts used for text-to-speech: Seduction (Jean Baudrillard) and “Notes on Cringe” (K Allado-McDowell)
Contact Sports
Combat Sports currently exists as a series of AI generated images of wrestling. The images were made by iterating within an individual data set in OpenArt containing exclusively public domain images or images available for use without attribution through Creative Commons, sourced from sites including Flickr and the Library of Congress image database. The end presentation for the images is still under consideration; possibilities include short looping videos, black and white darkroom prints, a small edition of artist books, or the inkjet printing and heat press process described in Craquelure.
Craquelure
Craquelure is a display/printing intervention and process that creates cracks in the surface of the print, discovered by accident while heat pressing inkjet-printed images. Particularly when applied to prints of AI-generated images, the surface treatment interferes with the image in a way that questions the medium and work’s lasting power and relationship to traditional art forms, like oil painting, to which the term ‘craquelure’ is traditionally applied.
